The other half of Washington’s trading

Congressional trades get the attention, but members of Congress are only half the story. The President, the Vice President and every Senate-confirmed appointee disclose their trades too. They file with the Office of Government Ethics rather than with the House Clerk or the Senate, which is why those names never appear in a Congressional feed.

Every row below is read from the filing itself. Amounts are the ranges the form asks for, not exact figures, because a range is all the filer disclosed.

What this list is missing

  • Most filings are not published as documents at all. OGE releases them only in response to a records request naming the requester, which is not something software should do on anyone’s behalf. Those filings exist and we link to them, but nobody here has read them.
  • Some published filings are scans or use a layout we do not yet read. Those show no figures rather than a misread number, and each filer’s page says which of their filings those are.
  • A filer with few trades listed may simply have had one filing read and another not. Read the filer’s page before drawing a conclusion from a small number.
